John was born on July 19th, 1789 in East Lands End, Haydon Bridge, Northumberland.  John's father was Fenwick MARTIN and his mother was Izabel/Isabel THOMPSON.  His maternal grandparents were Richard THOMPSON and Ann RIDLEY. He had three brothers and five sisters, named William, Jonathan, Richard, Anne, Margaret, Ann, Isabel and Mary.  He died at the age of 64 on February 17th, 1854 in At home of Thomas Wilson, 4 Finch Rd.Douglas, Isle of Man.  He was buried in Spittal Vault, Kirk Braddon Cemetery, Douglas, Isle of Man.1 1
